As a teacher of a very lively, boy-heavy class, the benefit the type of hands-on practical learning to them was evident from the start, with increased levels of concentration and co-operation within and between the members of the group.
This unique educational programme includes three farm visits and three classroom sessions spread across the academic year, each lasting approximately two hours. Each session focuses on curriculum based themes and links to the E4L Curriculum and 6Rs for year fours.
As well as being an enjoyable experience the Community Farm provides a truly unique learning opportunity and brings topics such as food provenance, caring for animals and the crop growing process to life.
The Farm charges a nominal fee of £2 per child/per Farm visit, and schools are required to provide their own transport to and from The Farm.
