Today was physical.
The no-dig bed is a cake of green (plant material) and brown (manure) tasty layers making a growing space that is really light and full of slow-release nutrients. Once you’ve sweated away to build it, the practice is to never dig it again- just sow directly into the topsoil and cover any weeds over with more compost or straw.
Firstly we dug a big hole- about a foot-ish deep…
So our recipe goes— 1, first add a bit of wood to hold the water and slowly break down-releasing goodness. 2, Next some Straw.
3, Crumble in a handsome dash of compost. 4, a bit of soil
5, A dusting of Sawdust. 6, Finish and present with a dollop of Mushroom Compost.
BRING ON THE SALADS. Cheers
